Outmatched
I can remember the first time the concept of Batman fighting Superman occurred to me. It shouldn't even be close, right? Even your grandmother understands how overwhelmingly powerful Clark is. On one side you have an indestructible, lightning fast alien who can melt you with his eyes. On the other is a man with gadgets. Superman has defeated entire armies and planet-destroying monsters, and yet the experts say, Batman still stands a chance. According to the source material, not only does he hold his own, he completely dominates the super-powered alien. How in the world is that possible, you ask? Kryptonite. The all-powerful Kal-El has one fatal flaw, and Bruce is wise enough to exploit that weakness through his preparation for every possible scenario. With just a small glowing green rock, one of the strongest beings on earth becomes completely defenseless. Superman is stronger, faster, and more powerful than Batman in almost every sense of the word. But what Bruce lacks in power, he makes up for in preparation and execution. Sometimes even the smallest yet well-placed stone can take down the biggest giant.
We too, face a force that far surpasses the limits of our earthly strength. Countless victims lie defeated before him, millions more held captive behind him. But he isn't everything he's cracked up to be. He has one fatal weakness--the Word of Almighty God. Jesus told his disciples in the book of Luke, "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." The enemy runs and hides at the mere mention of Christ's name; His words remain as strong as the day He spoke them. All we have to do is believe them, write them in our hearts, and put them into action. Bruce's kryptonite ring does nothing for him if he leaves it in the cave. We have to be prepared for when the enemy approaches. With the proper preparation, God promises us that we have victory in Him. We may be weak, but He is strong. Learn to harness the Word of God, and its the enemy that will fear you.
